Church
Churches are often at the heart of a town. They are a place for worship, solitude for the soul, and camaraderie. From early culture to the present day, churches are architectural structures built to provide a place to practice spirituality. For this Cultural Art Experience, visit a church in your area. Choose a church of any denomination. Perhaps you could choose the oldest church in your area. Tour the church learning all that you can.
The architecture, stained glass windows and icons within are good subjects for this art project. Remember to be respectful in this setting!
Sketch a stained glass window with pencil and use colored pencils to fill it in. Draw it again later at home (where you can be messy) and use chalk pastels. Use chalk pastels to sketch the exterior of the church or sketch a religious sculpture from the church garden.
